Israel and Iran launch new attacks, the US Senate supports Trump in the war

US lawmakers on Wednesday voted against a war powers measure that would have limited President Donald Trump’s ability to order further military action in Iran.

The measure failed to pass the Senate by a 47-53 vote. The House of Representatives will vote on the same issue on Friday.

Iran has fired more missiles at Israel, the Israeli military said, as explosions were also heard in Jerusalem.

Meanwhile, the US military has identified two more servicemen believed to have been killed in a drone strike in Kuwait.

Israel’s military said it had launched a “new wave of attacks” targeting military infrastructure in Tehran.

The military also said it struck Hezbollah targets in Beirut on Thursday morning.

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth confirmed that a US submarine had sunk an Iranian warship in the Indian Ocean. The Pentagon later released footage of the attack.

About 180 people are believed to have been on board the Iris Dena – 32 have been rescued and Sri Lankan authorities say 80 bodies have so far been recovered. /time
