President Vjosa Osmani has commemorated the 28th anniversary of the Epic of the Kosovo Liberation Army, underlining the contribution of the soldiers and the sacrifices made on March 5, 6 and 7, 1998.

“March, which in ancient mythology symbolized war and courage, was the month of quarrels, which decided the direction of our history. Exactly on 5, 6 and March 7, 1998, in the heart of Prekazi, our history took a new direction. Here, our resistance, sacrifice, heroism and weapons were found in one place,” said Osmani.

She added that the legendary commander Adem Jashari, together with his family, chose sacrifice before bowing down, making their towers become a permanent symbol of Kosovo’s freedom.

“They chose freedom over fear. above all, they chose honor over life. Those three days of March became the month of epic and sacrifice that gave birth to a whole nation. The Jashari family became a fortress, while their towers became a permanent flag of our freedom.

Osmani pointed out that these are the dates when Kosovo decided not to live on its knees.

“Today when we remember 5, 6 and 7 March, we remember the moment when Kosovo decided not to live on its knees. 58 souls became light for a people. In those days, the sound of gunpowder was not only a call for freedom. This was the dedication that woke up Drenica, Kosovo, the whole nation,” said Osmani.
