Turkey promotes women’s empowerment and gender leadership at UN event in New York

Stronger representation of women in leadership positions is essential for building a fairer and more inclusive future, Turkey’s Minister of Family and Social Services said, Anadolu reports.

Speaking at the 70th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70) at the UN headquarters in New York, Mahinur Ozdemir Goktas presented Turkey’s vision for advancing equality. gender equality and the empowerment of women in decision-making roles.

“We consider the presence of women leaders necessary for a more humane, just and inclusive future,” said Goktas.

She added that over the past 24 years, Turkey has pursued policies aimed at expanding the representation of women in politics and increasing their influence within decision-making institutions.

“We will continue to share our reform policies and experiences on every platform and to support the full and equal participation of women in all areas of life,” she added.

CSW70, which takes place March 9-19, is the UN’s largest annual gathering dedicated to gender equality and women’s rights.

This year’s main theme, “Ensuring and strengthening access to justice for all women and girls,” focuses on the barriers women face in legal systems and examines measures to address legal inequality and close the justice gap globally.
