The Basic Court in Prizren has sentenced the accused, Sead Halilaj, to 15 years in prison for committing the criminal offense of “Aggravated Murder”, committed in a cruel and cunning manner.

The verdict was taken by the judge of the Department of Serious Crimes in Prizren, Artan Sejranni – chairman of the panel, and the members-judges Teuta Krusha and Sadije Selmani, on February 24 2026.

According to the judgment, Halilaj intentionally deprived the life of the victim I.K. in a cruel and insidious manner, on June 4, 2013.

In the decision it is stated that the murder was committed together with the victim’s brother, Senad Kullaj, for low motives, since she worked as a singer and dancer in a nightclub in Mitrovica.

“..in that way that together with Senad Kullaj from Shkodra – Republic of Albania comes to visit I. who was working as a singer-dancer in Mitrovica in the “Sh…” bar owned by M.S., in which case they meet in Prizren, where they stay at F.R.’s house, where she lived earlier, and sometime in the morning after I.K. did not agree, to return home as the family did not agree about her work as a dancer and singer in the night club, suddenly the accused Sead Halilaj with a knife together with Senad Kullaj began to hit I.K in different parts of the body”, says the verdict.

As a result, it is said that they inflicted cutting wounds on the victim’s throat, damaging his airways and rupturing his blood vessels.

As a mitigating circumstance, the jury took “correct behavior after the commission of the criminal offense”, despite the fact that the defendant had been on the run since 2013 for 11 years, and was arrested through international cooperation.

Meanwhile, as an aggravating circumstance, the manner of committing the criminal offense, the social dangerousness of the offense, and the weight of the offense were taken as an aggravating circumstance. criminal.

The sentence against him was pronounced based on the Criminal Code of Kosovo of 2013, which for the commission of the criminal offense “Aggravated murder” foresees punishment from 10 years to life imprisonment.

The indictment against Sead Halilaj was filed by the Basic Prosecutor’s Office in Prizren, on September 25, 2024, where it is said that after he and the victim’s brother had gone to Prizren from Shkodra, Albania, asking the victim to meet in Prizren, where they stayed together on the critical night.

Furthermore, it is said that after committing the murder, in the early hours of the morning, they left by taxi in the direction of Shkodra. Then they left for Montenegro and from Podgorica they traveled to Italy, then Belgium and finally England, where he worked and when he showed up he was asked by Interpol.

In addition to Halilaj, the Basic Court in Prizren also sentenced the victim’s brother, Senad Kualla, to 19 years in prison on June 12, 2020 for the criminal offense of “felony murder” of depriving a family member of his life in a cruel and cunning manner.
