Clean the beets with a kitchen brush, wash with plenty of water and then put them in a pot.
Cover them with water and bring to a boil over medium heat.
To tell if they are fully cooked, stick a fork in and if the beets are soft, remove them from the heat.
Once they are cool, you can remove their skins, but this is optional.
Cut the beets into slices. thin or in squares.
