Witkoff: I asked Russia not to hand over intelligence to Iran

US special envoy Steve Witkoff said he asked Russia not to hand over intelligence to Tehran during the current US-Israeli military operation against Iran.

“I made it clear to them,” Witkoff said when a reporter on the US presidential plane asked him if he had contacted Moscow with a request not to hand over information to Iran about potential targets, or provide other support, Sputnik reports today.

He added that he hoped Russia would not provide that kind of assistance to Iran.

In that case, when asked by a reporter if Washington had evidence that Russia was passing such information to Iran, US President Donald Trump replied that he did not know.

“We don’t know that. Even if they (Iran) get that information, it doesn’t help them much,” Trump said.

On February 28, the United States and Israel attacked Iran after talks over the country’s nuclear program failed to produce a deal, after which Iran retaliated with airstrikes against Israel and targets in Middle Eastern countries it said were linked to the US presence.
