The New York Senate approves the Resolution marking the 18th anniversary of Kosovo’s independence

The New York Senate has approved the Resolution commemorating the 18th anniversary of the declaration of independence of the Republic of Kosovo. 

The resolution, sponsored by Senator Jessica Scarcella-Spanton along with dozens of co-sponsors from the major parties, presents an official tribute to the anniversary of February 17, 2008, the day Kosovo declared independence.

The resolution underscores the importance of Kosovo’s independence day and the progress achieved as one of the youngest countries in Europe; the friendship and partnership between the United States and Kosovo, as well as the contribution of the Kosovar community to the state of New York and society in general. 

In the vote, most senators joined to recognize the historical achievements and role of Kosovo in promoting democratic values ​​and sustainable development in the region.

The resolution is a clear message of support to the Kosovar people before their national independence day.
