At the Basic Court in Pristina, a court hearing will be held today in the case of the barricades placed in the north of Kosovo in December 2022.

In this case, the accused are Dushan Maksimović, Milosh Radosavljevic, Nemanja Jolović, Dushan Drobaq, Srdjan Vučinić and Nenad Orlović.

The initial review session, scheduled for July, was postponed because they did not appear in court of the accused.

According to the indictment of the Special Prosecution, the six accused are suspected of having organized and erected barricades in the northern municipalities of Kosovo.

The prosecution claims that they, in complicity and using force and violence, have hindered the institutions of Kosovo in the exercise of state authority and in the performance of official duties.

In the indictment it is stated that the main roads were blocked with trucks loaded with gravel, excavators, ambulances, buses and other vehicles.

The barricades were erected in December 2022, during a period of high tensions in northern Kosovo related to the Kosovo Government’s decisions on license plates and entry-exit documents for Serbian citizens.

Local Serbs had opposed the implementation of the decision on vehicle license plates and had blocked the roads leading to the border points in Jarinj and Bërnjak.

The erection of the barricades was also influenced by the arrest of the former Serbian policeman, Dejan Pantiq, in December 2022. The local community had demanded his release and security guarantees.
