The Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport has announced that they have started the soil removal works on the “Ibrahim Rugova” Highway, in the Suharekë-Prizren segment.

According to the Ministry’s announcement, the project for the rehabilitation of the escarpments is being delayed due to the procedures in the Procurement Review Body (PRB), although the contract for its implementation was awarded on April 10 2026.

In a press release, the Ministry has emphasized that the submitted complaints have caused the project to remain in the PRB beyond reasonable deadlines, influencing the postponement of the start of the works.

“If the PRB was more efficient and there were no unnecessary delays, today the rehabilitation project would be carried out, while citizens would not have to face landslides on the road. The highway is is cleared from landslides, and we thank the citizens for the understanding and patience shown for these delays caused, through no fault of ours”, the announcement states.
