Turkey’s national team has disappointed again at the 2026 World Cup, being eliminated from the tournament after losing 1-0 to Paraguay.
Even though they played with one more player from the end of the first half, Turkey could not avoid defeat and ended their World Cup adventure.
The only goal of the match was scored by Matis Galarza, who scored with a long-range shot after just two minutes of play.
After the early goal, the Turks took control of the game and created several good scoring chances, but proved inaccurate in front of the opposition goal.
The situation for Paraguay became difficult at the end of the first half when Miguel Almiron was sent off after a VAR review in the third minute of extra time.
However, the lead numerical did not help the Turks to change the course of the match. Can Uzun and Deniz Gül missed some good close-range chances, contributing to their team’s defeat.
With this result, Turkey exits the World Cup after disappointing performances in the first two games, while Paraguay remains in contention for a spot in the knockout stages.
