The Parliamentary Assembly of the South East European Cooperation Process (SEECP) has approved with full consensus the Final Declaration, reaffirming the commitment of the participating countries to strengthening political and parliamentary dialogue, advancing regional cooperation, promoting good neighborly relations and supporting the European perspective of the region.
According to the official announcement, the document places special emphasis on maintaining stability, security and sustainable development, as and in the importance of cooperation for addressing common challenges.
Also, the announcement states that the adoption of the declaration by full consensus, despite the objections of the Serbian delegation, proved the constructive spirit that characterized the work of the session.
During the second day of the 13th Session of the SEECP Parliamentary Assembly, a plenary session was held, focused on inter-parliamentary dialogue, strengthening cooperation regional, good neighborliness and European integration.
In her speech, the Deputy Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo, Emilia Rexhepi, emphasized the importance of regional cooperation and dialogue for the advancement of democratic processes, stability and European integration of the countries of the Western Balkans. She reaffirmed Kosovo’s commitment to deepening regional cooperation and strengthening good neighborly relations.
Rexhepi also invited the representatives of Belgrade to intensify cooperation in areas of common interest, such as culture, economy and human rights.
“Our common responsibility is to offer the new generations a development perspective, quality education, employment and opportunities to stay in our region”, he declared.
The Speaker of the Assembly of Bulgaria, Mihaela Dotsova, the Speaker of the Assembly of North Macedonia, Afrim Gashi, as well as other parliamentary representatives from the participating countries addressed the session.
Meanwhile, the delegation of Serbia repeated the request not to allow the participation of Kosovo in the works of the SEECP Parliamentary Assembly.
This request was not supported by any of the participating countries and did not was taken into account by the Troika leading the process. As a result, the Serbian delegation decided to leave the proceedings of the plenary session.
