Kosovo Police has given new details about the case of attempted murder that happened on Friday morning in Ferizaj, where a 16-year-old allegedly attacked citizens and then injured a police officer.

According to the Police, around 07:50, information was received that a person was attacking citizens with a knife in the city square. At the scene, police officials found that one person had suffered injuries from a sharp instrument, while another citizen was injured while trying to get away from the suspect.

After the incident, the suspect left, while regional investigators, supported by other police units, started the search for his location. He was found first in his apartment and then at an address in the village of Greme.

The police announced that, during the arrest attempt, the 16-year-old refused to obey the orders, attacked the police officers with stones and strong tools, and rushed at them with a knife.

“Upon arriving at the scene, the suspect refused to obey the police orders, held a knife in his hand, attacked the police officers with stones and a knife. During the intervention, his mother prevented the police officers from performing their duties. At one point, the suspect threw a bottle of gasoline on himself, continuing to threaten the police officers with a knife and not allowing them to approach him suffered injuries, while one of them was stabbed in the neck”, says the communiqué.

After the police intervention, the suspect with the initials P.GJ (16 years old) was placed under control and arrested together with his mother D.GJ (47 years old).

Also, the Police say that a knife was seized, which is suspected to have been used in the attack on citizens.

“By decision of to the state prosecutor, the suspect has been detained for 24 hours, while the investigations related to the case are ongoing”, the communique says./Klankosova.tv
