Kosovo Police has carried out raids in three different locations in the Mitrovica region, as part of investigations into the case of migrant smuggling.

According to the 24-hour report of the Police, the action took place on July 9, 2026, after the examination of electronic equipment and the analysis of materials obtained during the investigation of a case that occurred on September 23, 2025 on the “Ibrahim Rugova” highway, in the axis Vermica-Prishtina.

During the search of a prisoner’s house, a rifle with eight cartridges was found and seized. Meanwhile, another suspect has been detained and taken into custody by decision of the prosecutor.

The case has been described as “Smuggling with migrants, illegal possession of weapons and possession of narcotic substances”.

After examining the electronic devices and analyzing the extracted materials, the Investigations Sector of the Police Department Border Police, on 09.07.2026, implemented the Court’s Order, related to the control of the house and accompanying premises in the Mitrovica region. In connection with the case of ‘smuggling with immigrants’, another Kosovar male suspect was detained, who was interviewed in the presence of the defense lawyer and was sent to custody by the decision of the prosecutor.
