Politically motivated crime in Germany reached a new record level last year, reports Anadolu.
According to media reports, authorities recorded a total of 85,837 politically motivated crimes in 2025, an increase of 2 percent compared to 2024, marking the highest figure since the joint federal-state survey began in 2001.
Since 2015, according to the “Suddeutsche Zeitung” newspaper, which cited documents from the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA), the number of registered offenses more than doubled.
According to the data, crimes committed by the extreme right constitute the biggest part of the problem in Germany, with 42,544 offenses in 2025. The second highest number of cases, with 13,490 The crime was registered in the far-left camp.
Investigators attributed the high number of politically motivated crimes to, among other things, the early federal elections in February 2025 and numerous crimes against political opponents.
However, they pointed out that international crises, such as the conflict in the Middle East, also had an impact in Germany.
In around 6,886 cases, the police assumed a motive. foreign ideological, while in 1,983 cases a religious motive.
However, in about 20,934 cases it was not possible to clearly determine the specific motive of the work.
