Denmark on Thursday expressed concern about the treatment of detainees captured during a flotilla mission to Gaza, after the publication of footage by Israeli Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir, where the activists appeared tied and forced to sit on their knees after being stopped by Israeli forces in international waters, reports Anadolu.
“Deeply concerned about the unacceptable treatment by Israeli Security Minister Ben-Gvir of detainees flotilla for Gaza. It is absolutely essential that detainees are treated with respect and that their rights are respected, which Denmark has also made clear to Israel,” Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen wrote on the American social platform X.
The humanitarian flotilla Global Sumud said on Tuesday that all 50 ships in its convoy have been seized by Israel after attacks in international waters.
The humanitarian flotilla Global Sumud said on Tuesday that all 50 ships of its aid convoy were seized by Israel. Together, they were carrying 428 people from 44 countries, having set out from Marmaris, Turkey, in a new attempt to break the illegal Israeli blockade imposed on Gaza since 2007.
Although a ceasefire was reached in Gaza on October 10, 2025, humanitarian access has not improved and deadly Israeli attacks have continued. Gaza’s health ministry says at least 881 people have been killed and 2,621 wounded since the ceasefire took effect.
The agreement was aimed at halting Israel’s two-year war in Gaza, which has killed more than 72,000 people, mostly women and children, injured more than 172,000 since October 2023 and caused widespread destruction affecting about 90 percent of civil infrastructure.
