PostNord will now focus exclusively on parcel delivery, citing a significant drop in letter volumes due to digitization and changing communication habits.

“Today marks a historic turning point. in the history of ‘PostNord'”, said the executive director of the service, Kim Pedersen. “We are ending the delivery of letters after centuries, but we are opening a new chapter where Danes need us most: in e-commerce, where parcels now outnumber letters,” he said.

Following PostNord’s withdrawal, private company Dao will to take over the majority of letter deliveries, with CEO Hans Peter Nissen predicting around 80 million letters in 2026.
