The Ministry of Industry, Entrepreneurship, Trade and Innovation handled 1,567 consumer complaints during the six-month period January-June, most of them were about the miscalculations of the hours in the electric meters.
“According to the report of the Department for Consumer Protection (DMK), the largest number of complaints are related to the problems related to the miscalculations of the hours in the meters electrical appliances, the warranty and the return of goods, the inconsistency of shelf-cashier prices in markets, with online purchases and the non-delivery of products according to the description provided”, the press release states.
MINT in its announcement says that it is necessary to increase market surveillance and take additional measures to raise the level of respect for consumer rights.
“The high volume of complaints from consumers shows that in a number of in significant cases, economic operators are not fully respecting the provisions of the Law on Consumer Protection and the guaranteed rights of citizens as consumers”, the announcement continues.
The complaints received have been handled in cooperation with the competent institutions, including the Central Market Surveillance Inspectorate (IQMT), the Food and Veterinary Agency of Kosovo (AUVK), the Tax Administration of Kosovo (ATK), the Regulatory Authority of Electronic and Postal Communications (ARKEP), the Office of the Energy Regulator (ERO), the Central Bank of Kosovo (CBK) and the Regulatory Authority of Water Services (ARRU), according to the relevant competences
