Prishtina – The creation of the Army of Kosovo will not happen against anyone, said Kosovo President Hashim Thaci today.

He also said that none of the international factors is against the army creation, except that it needs a day and date to be set.

Thaci’s statement came in a speech delivered today in front of UBT College students in Pristina.

Thaci said that the Serb List, which represents the Serb community in the institutions of Kosovo is receiving orders from Belgrade, therefore, the constitutional changes in favor of the creation of the army, which is being demanded by NATO and USA, are impossible.

“The Serb List has declared that it will not vote”, said Thaci.

“After the 2014 elections, we faced a new reality with the Serb List. In the recent days, the Serb List has declared that it will never vote in favor of the Army of Kosovo because it serves the interests of the government of Belgrade”, the President of Kosovo said.

Kosovo Security Force was established in 2009 based on the Ahtisaari’s Plan, a document which led to Kosovo’s independence.

Three years ago, this force delivered the operational capacities and authorities in the country started to revise the security sector, demanding more powers for FSK, in order to transform it into an army. However, this requires two-thirds of votes in parliament, including two-thirds of minority MPs. But the refusal of Serb MPs backed by Belgrade has prevented these constitutional changes.
