Since this Friday, May 1, Albania and Kosovo have officially restored the regime of crossing without border controls for vehicles with license plates of both countries. The measure will be in effect until September 30 and is expected to significantly facilitate movement during the summer season, when the flow of travelers increases significantly.
According to the agreement, vehicles with Albanian and Kosovar license plates will pass through the border points without stops and without standard control procedures. Meanwhile, vehicles with foreign license plates will only be subject to quick checks, to avoid delays and long queues, especially at the border point Morinë-Vërmica.
The facilitation of crossing is restored after two months of interruption, after full controls were implemented during March and April. Even in that period, weekends and official holidays continued with a relaxed regime for the citizens of Albania and Kosovo.
This cooperation model between the two countries has brought obvious benefits over the years, especially during the summer, promoting tourism, family visits and trade exchanges.
According to official data, only in the early hours of Friday, about 20 thousand citizens, most of them from Kosovo, entered Albania.
