A giant sinkhole in the village of Pondok Balik, in the Ketol district of Aceh province in Indonesia, continues to expand, causing significant ground movement and landslides, reports Anadolu.

Videos recorded show the geological phenomenon, which has reached a depth of about 100 meters and covers an area exceeding 30,000 square meters.

Local authorities warn that unstable ground conditions may lead to further landslides at any moment, especially due to the heavy rainfall that penetrates the volcanic rock structures of the region.

Continuous landslides have already destroyed parts of the main road connecting the regions between Bener Meriah and Central Aceh, engulfed large areas of coffee and chili plantations, and forced the displacement of high-voltage electricity pylons.

Due to of high risk to life, the Indonesian government has declared the area a red zone, completely banning access to the public.
