Guterres gave a second message to Iran, calling on it to stop attacks on neighboring countries.

He also stressed the importance of keeping vital global trade routes open, warned that any prolonged disruption in the Strait of Hormuz would cause “huge consequences” for people around the world.

“It is time for the force of law to prevail over the law of force. It is time for diplomacy to prevail over war,” Guterres stressed.

For his part, Costa said that although “many international actors are challenging the international order,” there is no “alternative” to multilateralism in dealing with crises. global.
