FIFA has confirmed the new confirmed rules that will be applied in the 2026 World Cup.
They are expected to make football fairer and more dynamic, writes “Gazeta Express”.
Below you can be notified of the new football rules:
• Countdown for throw-ins (5 seconds): If a player deliberately delays the restart of the game, the throw-in can be given to the opposing team.
• Countdown to restart play by goalkeeper or player (5 seconds): Also applies to deliberate attempts to waste time. In case of violation, the opponent may be awarded a corner kick.
• Timed substitutions (10 seconds): Substituted players must leave the field within 10 seconds, at the nearest point. If they do not, the substitute cannot enter the game for at least 1 minute and the team must continue with 10 players.
• Off-field medical treatment (1 minute): Players receiving treatment from medical staff must remain off the field for 60 seconds. There are some exceptions, including goalkeepers, injuries and cases where the opponent is punished with a yellow or red card.
• Covering the mouth during confrontations with an opponent: Any player who covers the mouth in a confrontational situation with an opponent can be punished with a red card.
• Corners can be verified: VAR can check whether a corner kick has been awarded correctly, but the control must be done quickly and before play resumes.
• Second yellow cards can be reviewed: Players sent off after a second yellow card may benefit from a decision review, but there will be no reviews for situations that could have led to a second yellow card./Express
