In the extraordinary session of the Assembly on oil prices, the resolution proposed by the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) failed to even enter the voting procedure.
The document, also supported by the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), provided for the reduction of excise duty and VAT for fuels, as well as price subsidies for the most sensitive sectors of the economy, including agriculture, public transport and local producers.
The session took place in tense conditions, with only 27 deputies present and fierce debates between the position and the opposition. The Vetëvendosje movement in power justified the non-support of the resolution by arguing that the excise tax reduction would have little impact on citizens, but would create significant losses for the state budget.
