Turkey’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has held a telephone conversation with American negotiators involved in efforts to end the war in Iran, reports Anadolu.

Sources from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Fidan exchanged views with the American side on the latest developments in negotiations between the US and Iran.

Pakistan brokered a cease-fire on April 8 and the first round of peace talks. US-Iran talks were held three days later in Islamabad, but no agreement was reached. Efforts to revive stalled negotiations are ongoing.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi yesterday in Islamabad met Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief Asim Munir, while the visit of US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to the Pakistani capital was cancelled.

The main points of contention between the two sides are said to be the opening of the Strait of Hormuz, a junction global shipping gateway that Iran has effectively closed since the US-Israeli attack on February 28, the US blockade of Iranian ports and the fate of Tehran’s enriched uranium.
