The president of North Macedonia, Gordana Siljanovska Davkova, has reacted to the fascist calls towards Albanians by the fans at the basketball match between Macedonia and Romania that was held in Kumanovo.

Davkoka has said that the Macedonian people feel ashamed because of the irresponsible fans who “shot hateful bullets at fellow Albanians”.

“Due to our sports illiteracy, which it happens to him who knows the seventh time, rightly the reactions to the terrible incident at the basketball game in Kumanovo do not stop, where some irresponsible fans shot hateful bullets at our Albanian fellow citizens — but in fact, they hit us all, even themselves, and we are still ashamed”, she wrote on Facebook.

Siljanovska Davkova said that Macedonia will no longer allow sports arenas to return to “arena of gladiator fans”.

She has said that the state should oppose the hatred of the fans and learn how to cheer. According to her, North Macedonia needs “an alphabet of cheering as a sporting pleasure”.

“Pure Macedonia”, “The good Albanian is the dead Albanian” and “Gas chamber for Albanians”, are some of the slogans sung by the local fans, calls related to the Nazi rhetoric of extermination. These calls were made in the presence of the Macedonian Prime Minister and high state officials.
