Birjam Peshkopie – Unique Taste From Albanian Table

Wednesday, March 4th 2026

Birjami is an early traditional Albanian dish, where the area in which its preparation is ubiquitous is Peshkopia.

Its recipe has been inherited from generation to generation by the grandmothers and mothers of this area, who on special occasions of family joy or at the tables of friends and guests always prepared this fantastic casserole as a sign of hospitality.

The preparation of Birjami is simple and the ingredients of this casserole are few but complete. Lamb or beef, rice, olive oil and green onions.

A fantastic taste especially now in the cold winter days. Birjami goes fantastically with different pickles, peppers with cottage cheese, seasonal salads, different cheeses, etc.
