The elected deputy of the Serbian List in the Assembly of Kosovo, Igor Simic, has repeated a series of well-known claims of the official Belgrade regarding the election process, the position of the Serbs in Kosovo and the institutions of Kosovo, accusing without presenting evidence that a mandate of the Serbian community was “stolen” through the votes of the Albanians.

A significant part of Simic’s statements is related to the accusations against Prime Minister Albin Kurti.

He accused him of, as expressed, “nationalism”, “discrimination against Serbs” and “apartheid”, claiming that during Kurti’s mandate over a thousand attacks against Serbs and arbitrary arrests have occurred.

He did not provide sources or supporting documentation for these figures and accusations. The acting prime minister himself, Albin Kurti, has addressed the Serbian citizens living in Kosovo several times in Serbian, to avoid the possibility of misinformation.

But, for Simiq, it seems that this does not carry weight. He even criticized the reaction of the international community, claiming that the European Union and international partners are silent on, according to him, “violations of the rights of Serbs in Kosovo”.

In an interview for Radio Belgrade on the topic “Position of the Serbian people in Kosovo”, Simic also targeted the Minister for Communities and Returns, Nenad Rashić, claiming that he has secured support mainly from Albanian voters and not from the Serbian community. KosovaPress.

Simiq claimed that Rashiq has received a significant number of votes in municipalities where, according to him, no Serbs live, describing this as evidence of electoral manipulation. However, he did not present any concrete evidence that would support the claims of manipulation or “theft” of the mandate.

The electoral process in Kosovo is administered by the Central Election Commission, while the results are certified after legal procedures and review of all complaints by the competent institutions.

Until now, there has not been any judicial or institutional decision that found manipulation of the mandate won by Rasić. In fact, the Serbian List also received votes in the municipalities where Rashić won.

During the interview, Simić called Rashić “Kurti’s Serb”, accusing him of supporting decisions of the Government of Kosovo that, according to him, have harmed the interests of the Serbian community.

He mentioned the expropriations in the north, the non-opposition of the decisions of the government cabinet, the support for the integration of Serbian institutions into the Kosovo system, as well as the attitudes of Rasić against the Association of Serb-Majority Municipalities.

“How can there be support from the Serbs. Just listen to some truths. He was Kurt’s minister when the kidnapping, the exploitation of the lands in the north was voted. This was not exploitation but the classic theft of the lands of the Serbs in the municipalities of Zubin Potok and Leposavić, for the construction of para-police bases and special units. So the police base was built on Serbian lands and in which are mainly Albanians with long barrels, armored vehicles”, claimed Simic.

He also repeated the traditional position of the Serbian List that the financial and institutional support of Serbia is crucial for the survival of the Serbian community in Kosovo, emphasizing that Belgrade continues to finance the education, health sectors and payments for a part of the Serbian citizens in Kosovo.

“Serbia helps every family with three children, families with a difficult social situation, with textbooks Do you know how we are supplied with these texts? We smuggle them in because Prishtina does not allow the introduction of any Cyrillic textbooks. We know who we are, what we belong to. The fact is that there would be no Serbs in Kosovo. For all Serbs, Belgrade is the capital, he said. of the Serbian List, stating that this party enjoys the overwhelming support of the Serbs in Kosovo, while rejecting accusations of pressure on voters or manipulation of the electoral process. Meanwhile, the institutions of Kosovo have repeatedly emphasized that the electoral processes take place in accordance with the legislation in force and are monitored by local and international observation missions. Their reports did not find manipulations that would change the election result or the distribution of mandates.
