The Acting Chief State Prosecutor, Agron Qalaj, received the National Coordinator for Elections, the prosecutor from the Office of the Chief State Prosecutor, Laura Pula, in a meeting today.
According to the communiqué, during this meeting Qalsaj emphasized that zero tolerance to any attempt to violate the will of citizens and the immediate response to any suspicion of irregularities have proven the determination of the State Prosecutor to protect the legality, integrity of the elections and the constitutional right of citizens to vote freely.
On the other hand, prosecutor Pula informed Qalaj that during the day of the elections, the State Prosecutor received some information and, after verifying and handling them, until the end of the voting process, it was found that only seventeen of them present elements of committing criminal offenses against the right to vote. Of all these cases, on the same day, five people were detained, while twelve people were released in a regular procedure.
Further in the communique, it is known that Pula also informed that it is monitoring the handling of these cases in the basic prosecutor’s offices and that, until now, all cases are continuing in a regular procedure.
