Spiropali on Trump’s invitation to the Peace Board: It is a high assessment of Albania’s new role

The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of Albania, Elisa Spiropali, has stated that the invitation to Albania by the President of the USA, Donald Trump, on the Peace Board is a high assessment for the new role that Albania has taken over the years, reports Anadolu.

In a press conference, Spiropali said that through a letter to Prime Minister Rama, Trump has invited the Republic of Albania to join a new international organization called the Board of Peace, in the capacity of a founding member country.

“Above all, it must be acknowledged that this invitation is a high assessment, for the new role that Albania has taken over the years in matters of peace, security and stability, in our region of course, but also in the bosom of international organizations. There is no doubt that the invitation of the president of America is also a direct assessment of the leadership of Prime Minister Edi Rama, who has been personally invited as a member of the Board of Peace”, she declared.

Referring to the reactions and debates in Albania about the invitation in question, she said that while Albania is invited as a co-builder of a new international mechanism, which, according to her, aims to build stable and functional peace in the world, “starting with one of the most complicated and sensitive global security challenges, such as the future of the Gaza Strip, Albanian public opinion is attacked from within with all kinds of fantasies of the opponents of this government”.

Minister Spiropali has added that they see this initiative as a strong and noble effort to go beyond political statements or formal commitments, in the search for a lasting solution to conflicts.

Spiropali has emphasized that this direct invitation of the US president to the prime minister of Albania confirms the strength and mutual trust in the strategic partnership between Albania and the USA.

“We do not yet know how many leaders have been invited by President Trump, at different times and capacities, or will they be invited, to join his global initiative, but we know for sure that neither in Argentina nor in Turkey, where the leaders of those countries where larger than our country have notified the public of the invitation, there was no debate on the size of the Peace Board members. On the contrary, the inclusion of the country among the guests is considered something positive, welcomed and accepted with thanks,” she added.

A few days ago, the US President, Trump, announced the formation of the Peace Board for the Gaza Strip.

Meanwhile, the White House also announced the members of the new “technocratic” committee that will oversee the transition of power in the Gaza Strip as part of Trump’s 20-point plan to end Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza.
