The fire damages the destroyer of the US Navy “USS Higgins”

A large fire broke out earlier this week aboard the USS Higgins, a US Navy guided-missile destroyer, damaging its electrical and propulsion systems, according to a report Thursday, Anadolu reports.

CBS News, citing U.S. officials, said no injuries among crew members were reported as of Wednesday.

Cause of the fire and location The ship’s exact location in the Indo-Pacific region remains unclear, officials said, adding that the extent of the damage and the timeline for repairs are still unknown.

The USS Higgins, part of the Navy’s Asia-based force, is known to have last docked in Singapore earlier this year, according to vessel tracking data cited in the report.
