Air raid sirens were heard today in the Quds area and central Israel, including Tel Aviv, as well as in Jordan, after missiles fired from Iran were detected, reports Anadolu.
In a statement, the Israeli military said it had identified “the latest missile launch from Iran towards Israeli territory”.
“Defense systems are working to intercept the threat. In the last minutes, the Home Front Command distributed precautionary instructions directly to mobile phones in the affected areas,” the military added.
Sirens were later heard throughout central Israel, including the city of Tel Aviv. They were also heard in the Quds area, where explosions were heard from the interception. Israel’s emergency medical service, MDA, said in a statement that no injuries or property damage had been reported.
In Jordan, sirens sounded at the same time as the announcement that Iranian missiles had been detected heading toward Israel. An Anadolu correspondent reported hearing explosions resulting from air defense intercepts.
This came as the US and Israel launched a large-scale attack on Iran on Saturday, killing several senior Iranian leaders, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
In response, Tehran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel as well as countries in the region where US assets are located.
