Faced with supply pressures linked to the ongoing war with Iran and the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, the French government has authorized the temporary sale of oil that does not fully meet standard specifications.
The measure published in the “Official Gazette” raises the filter’s cold blockage point from minus 15 degrees Celsius to 0 degrees Celsius, meaning the fuel can become unusable at temperatures below zero.
According to the decree, drivers are held responsible for any engine or filter problems while distributors must inform customers of the change. Other technical standards, including cetane index, sulfur content and fuel purity, remain unchanged.
