Steel Dome air defense system, developed in the country by Turkey, according to the executive director of the development company Roketsan, Murat Ikinci, is being built with new capacities to meet all the security needs of the country.
Speaking to Anadolu, Ikinci said that “Steel Dome” represents air defense architecture in development, which will continue to be updated with new capacities and technologies to address emerging threats.
“It represents an infrastructure in which we will continuously add capacities, integrate new technologies and develop measures against new threats. I can say that we are working so that it will be able to meet all the air defense needs of our country,” said Ikinci.
He said that Roketsan is continuing with mass production of a wide range of systems, from anti-tank missiles to cruise missiles, anti-ship missiles, ballistic missiles and defense missiles. aerial. Ikinci added that ballistic missiles occupy an important place in the company’s portfolio, emphasizing that the production and deliveries of the TAYFUN ballistic missile and the SOM cruise missile are continuing.
“We are working without interruption. Production activities at Roketsan continue without slowing down,” he said. According to him, the company intends to rapidly expand the existing production capacity through new investments, stressing that the current regional conditions make such an effort necessary.
“We are trying with all our strength both to strengthen the defense of our country and to accelerate production in this field”, he said. Ikinci emphasized that the air defense systems developed by the countries themselves are very valuable, describing “Steel Dome” as one of the most important defense projects of Turkey.
“‘Steel Dome’ is a system that we have developed ourselves. It is being jointly developed by Aselsan, Roketsan and TUBITAK SAGE,” he said.
“The fact that we are producing all the components of ‘Steel Dome’ ourselves gives us the opportunity to produce as many missiles, systems radars and battery systems we need, whenever we need them,” he added.
“From this perspective, ‘Steel Dome’ is among Turkey’s most critical defense programs, and their number as well as production capacity must be increased rapidly,” Ikinci said, adding that “We are making serious efforts to speed up production.”
“Air defense is a particularly difficult field, adding that no country can claim to have built the best system and completed it. work. We continue to add new capabilities and features in line with the changing characteristics and threat profiles,” he said.
He emphasized that ROKETSAN has a large number of projects under development and that many systems, from air defense missiles to air-to-air missiles and new ballistic missiles, will be introduced gradually in 2026 and beyond.
“Steel Dome” is Turkey’s layered air defense architecture that combines radars, missiles, electronic warfare systems and locally developed command systems to protect the airspace from threats at different altitudes and distances.
