India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) signed several agreements today, including in the fields of defense and energy, as Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a multi-state tour, with the first stop in Abu Dhabi, reports Anadolu.

UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan hosted Modi for talks in Abu Dhabi, according to the official Emirates news agency WAM.

The two leaders reviewed cooperation under the Partnership. Comprehensive Strategic and Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between the EBA and India, according to the official Emirates News Agency.

Tehran retaliated by striking US bases and assets in the Gulf countries.

After the talks, Modi said the meeting ended with key agreements in important areas, including energy and defense, giving “new impetus” to the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. India-UAE.

The Emirates announced $5 billion in investments in India, according to a statement by Modi at the US platform X.

Indian Foreign Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal said the leaders discussed “strengthening the bilateral partnership.”

They also exchanged views on developments in the Middle East and other global issues, Jaiswal said.

Among the agreements numerous, the two sides signed a framework for strategic defense partnership as well as a memorandum of understanding on strategic cooperation between Indian Strategic Petroleum Reserves Limited and Abu Dhabi National Oil Company.

The two sides also signed an agreement to explore opportunities in the purchase and sale of liquefied petroleum gas.

After visiting the UAE, Modi traveled to the Netherlands, Sweden and Norway between 15 and 19 May.

India’s foreign ministry said the third India-Nordic summit will be held in the Norwegian capital Oslo on May 19.

In the final leg of the tour, Modi will visit Italy on May 19-20 for talks with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
