German Chancellor Friedrich Merz on Friday called on young people to think twice before pursuing education or work in the United States of America, arguing that Germany offers better long-term opportunities, reports Anadolu. At a German Catholic meeting in Wurzburg, Merz said that “Today, I would not recommend my children to go to the US to get their education and work there. A climate A diverse society has developed there. And today, even the most educated people in the U.S. have great difficulty finding a job.”

The conservative leader told the young participants that, despite the economic fallout from international conflicts and wars, Germany’s social market economy continues to offer strong prospects, including employee participation rights and the opportunity to have a say at all levels.

“I want to encourage all of us to remain optimistic. that, despite many challenges, we can make this happen. I continue to try to do this, including explaining things,” Merz emphasized, adding, among other things, that “It is my firm belief that there are few countries in the world that offer such extraordinary opportunities, especially for young people, as Germany does”.
