The Basic Court in Prizren has sentenced the accused, Sead Halilaj, to 15 years in prison for committing the criminal offense of “Aggravated Murder”, committed in a cruel and cunning manner.

The verdict was taken by the judge of the Department of Serious Crimes in Prizren, Artan Sejranni – chairman of the panel, and the members-judges Teuta Krusha and Sadije Selmani, on February 24 2026.

The decision states that the murder was committed together with the victim’s brother, Senad Kullaj, for low motives, as she worked as a singer and dancer in a nightclub in Mitrovica.

“..in the way that together with Senad Kullaj from Shkodra – Republic of Albania comes to visit I. who was working as a singer-dancer in Mitrovica in the bar “Sh…” owned by M.S., in which case they meet in Prizren, where they stay at F.R.’s house, where she used to live, and sometime in the morning after I.K. did not agree, to return home as the family did not agree about her work as a dancer and singer in night clubs, suddenly the accused Sead Halilaj with a knife together with Senad Kullaj start to hit I.K in different parts of the body”, it is stated in judgment.

As a result, it is said that they caused cutting wounds to the victim’s throat, damaging his airways and severing blood vessels.

“..causing piercing cutting wounds on the back right and left side of the head, on the lobe of the left ear, on the right side of the chin region, scratches on the upper left front side of the chest, on the upper left side of the on the back, on the back of the left arm, on the back of the left hand at the elbow, sprains and scratches on the back of the left forearm as well as on the inner side of both palms of the hands, as well as a puncture wound on the right side of the neck in the front of the neck which cut had damaged the food, respiratory tract and had severed the blood vessels and nerves in this region that it went to the hard tissues of the neck rings, in which case it resulted in violent death as a result of massive bleeding from the numerous cutting and piercing wounds in the neck and various parts of the body caused by the mechanical action of the strong and sharp tool”, it is further stated.

While, as an aggravating circumstance, the way of committing the criminal offense, the social dangerousness of the offense, and the weight of criminal offense.

The sentence against him was pronounced based on the Criminal Code of Kosovo of 2013, which for the commission of the criminal offense “Aggravated murder” foresees punishment from 10 years to life imprisonment.

The indictment against Sead Halilaj was filed by the Basic Prosecutor’s Office in Prizren, on September 25, 2024, where it is said that after the same together with the victim’s brother had gone to Prizren from Shkodra, Albania, asking the victim to meet in Prizren, where they stayed together on the critical night.

Furthermore, it is said that after committing the murder, in the early hours of the morning they left by taxi in the direction of Shkodra. Then they left for Montenegro and from Podgorica they traveled to Italy, then Belgium and finally England, where he worked and when he showed up he was asked to return by Interpol.

In addition to Halilaj, the Basic Court in Prizren also sentenced the victim’s brother, Senad Kualla, to 19 years in prison on June 12, 2020 for the criminal offense of “felony murder” of depriving a family member of his life in a cruel and cunning manner. The judgment against him is said to have been confirmed by the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court. /Oath of directness
