The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Policy and Security, Kaja Kallas, has said that the political leaders in Kosovo must commit to forming a new government as soon as possible after the June 7 elections.
She said that the democratic elections held have opened the way for Kosovo to avoid the political blockade.
“Kosovo, with its democratic and inclusive elections, has opened the way to leave behind more than a year of political blockade. The political leaders must now engage in a constructive way to ensure the formation of the government as soon as possible”, she stated through a post in X.
Kallas also spoke about the continuation of the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, describing it as a key element for the European future of Kosovo.
“Progress in the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, as well as the normalization of relations with Serbia, remain essential for the advancement of Kosovo on its way towards European integration”, she said.
According to the preliminary results, the Vetëvendosje Movement received 299,152 votes or 42.91%. The Democratic Party of Kosovo has 147,220 votes, or 21.12%.
The third is the Democratic League of Kosovo with 122,575 votes or 17.58%. The Alliance received 49,917 votes or 7.16%.
