The two arrested in Gorazhdec, Peja, are suspected of influencing a Serbian party

Two people have been arrested in Gorazhdec of Peja on the suspicion that they tried to influence the free will of the citizens during the election process, directing them to vote for a Serbian political entity.

The Kosovo Police has announced that the action was carried out within the framework of commitments to protect the constitutional order, legality and integrity of the election process in the country.

According to the Police, the Regional Directorate in Peja on June 7 2026 has received information related to suspected illegal activities in the village of Gorazhdec.

“The Regional Directorate of Police in Pejë, dated 07.06.2026, has received information related to suspicions of illegal activities, with the aim of influencing the free will of citizens during the election process, which is suspected to have happened specifically in the village of Gorazhdec-Pejë, to orient and influence the citizens to vote for the Serbian List”, it is stated in the announcement of the Police, broadcast by Klankosova.tv.

After receiving the information, the relevant police units have undertaken operative actions in the field, carrying out raids and arrested two persons of Serbian nationality, who are suspected of involvement in this case.

“Based on this information, the relevant police units have undertaken concrete actions, where they have carried out raids and encountered two Kosovar men of Serbian nationality, who are suspected of being involved in the case, have been arrested and interviewed by the regional investigators.

The authorities emphasize that the interference and the exercise of influence in the election processes constitute a serious danger for the democracy and the institutions of the country and inter-institutional cooperation prove the active efforts and determination to protect the integrity of the electoral process and to fight any attempt to unlawfully influence the free will of the voters”, the communique further states.

The law enforcement agencies announce that all actions have been taken in coordination with the justice authorities, while by the decision of the state prosecutor, the two suspects have been detained for 48 hours.

“The Kosovo Police continues to call on all citizens of the Republic of Kosovo, regardless of ethnicity, language, political affiliation or personal belief, to exercise their right to vote freely and without pressure and to notify the competent institutions and the Kosovo Police in any case”, it is stated in notice.
