Kosovo Police has successfully carried out operational activities within the framework of the ‘ROADPOL’ plan for the month of June 2026, with a special focus on controlling drivers for alcohol use while driving.

According to police data, the activities were carried out from June 15 to 21 on all the country’s roads, with the aim of increasing road traffic safety and preventing accidents.

During this period, traffic units carried out a total of 861 checkpoints, while 644 drivers were checked. From these controls, 27 drivers have been found to be under the influence of alcohol, against whom legal measures have been taken.

One of the main activities of the week was the alcohol control “marathon”, organized on June 19. During this operation, the police identified a driver who was driving a vehicle with 1.11 per thousand alcohol in his blood, endangering traffic safety. The relevant legal measures have been immediately taken against him.

The police emphasize that driving under the influence of alcohol remains one of the main risk factors in traffic, endangering not only the life of the driver, but also of passengers and other road users.

Therefore, the authorities have called on all traffic participants to respect traffic rules and not drive vehicles after consuming alcohol.

“Any driving decision under the influence of alcohol poses a danger to the driver, passengers and other road users! So, do not drive the vehicle under the influence of alcohol!”.
