At Thursday’s hearing on the case of the triple murder in Gllogjan, the Basic Prosecutor’s Office in Peja requested from the court that Halil, Kastriot and Kreshnik Mehmetaj be found guilty and sentenced to the most severe measure provided by the law – life imprisonment.

During the presentation of the final word, the prosecutor of the case Sahide Gashi said that the evidence administered during the judicial process has confirmed the involvement of the accused in the tragic event of November 26, 2021.

According to her, the investigations, expertise and evidence presented in court have overturned the defense claims of the defendants, leaving, according to the Prosecution, a clear picture of the circumstances of the crime.

The indictment claims that Kastriot and Kreshnik Mehmetaj acted in cooperation to carry out the attack on the bus that was transporting students in the village of Gllogjan in Deçan. The bus driver and two 17-year-old students were killed by gunfire, while another person was injured.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the attack was planned in advance, while the perpetrators had studied the movements of the bus and the terrain where the event took place. Meanwhile, Halil Mehmetaj is accused of instigating the commission of the crime, repeatedly blaming one of the victims for his daughter’s suicide in 2020 and nurturing motives of revenge.

The three accused face charges of serious criminal offenses, while the trial is entering its final phase, after the presentation of the closing statements of the parties in the process.
