Witnesses of the Saradan massacre from the municipality of Istog have expressed their dissatisfaction with the decision of the Basic Court of Pristina, which, even in a retrial, has sentenced Ekrem Bajrović, accused of war crimes during 1998-1999, to 12 years in prison.

Naim Elshani, a witness, said that this decision is ridiculous, showing that he still bears the wounds from the torture that was inflicted on him. done.

“I don’t agree with this decision. This decision is ridiculous. 12 years imprisonment for a criminal who I saw with my own eyes in the crime, the torture, I experienced them, where even today the wounds drain my blood. I mean, it’s terrible. I don’t agree with this decision. Yes, believe me, the Serbs shot me twice. Today I’m also being shot by, maybe even by the Albanians, by the courts. I mean, I don’t have insurance, I’m threatened every day by people who don’t want the good of Kosovo. I’ve asked for protection from the prosecutor, even at my own expense. I’ve asked for witnesses during the 1990s. I don’t agree with this decision 12 years in prison is crazy. I don’t know where the justice is. I don’t know what I can do because of the pain I have. I salute you, the Albanians Elshani.

The other witness Ylber Lipa also expressed his displeasure.

“Despite the prolongation of the process, at least four of us as witnesses out of the 32 who are present today, are dissatisfied with the decision, even though we bear in mind that the laws of that time with which he was sentenced, the maximum sentence is 15 years. This shows that the sentence of 12 years that was given in the second degree after the complaint of the criminal Bajrović. However, we have to create trust in our courts. As much as the court has foreseen, and we have nothing to do. The disinterest of the witnesses to come, not only with the expenses, but with all the consequences mainly, he faces health problems and psychological trauma, as well as everything else. We hope that justice will be served, however late. We hope that our state will be organized and strengthened as soon as possible. That’s it,” he said
