The Supreme Court in Serbia ordered 30 days of detention for the citizen of Kosovo, Osman Selmani, who was arrested on July 1 by the police of Serbia, while he was returning to his homeland.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Serbia announced that Selmani was arrested on suspicion of war crimes at the Mutivoda border crossing, which connects Kosovo with Serbia.

“There are suspicions based on the fact that on 14.06.1999, in Sofali, Pristina, in collaboration with some members of the KLA, with cold weapons and firearms, in a cruel and insidious manner, he took the lives of civilians of Serbian nationality, a married couple Vladimir and Persa Stanisavljevic”, says the announcement of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Serbia.

Osman Selman’s family has described the accusations of the Serbian Prosecutor’s Office as unfounded.

“We believe in his innocence and will stand by him until the truth is fully revealed. We are confident that justice will prevail and the truth will emerge. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for everything support, prayers and words of encouragement in these difficult moments for our family”, it is said in the announcement of his family members.

In the announcement of the Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs, it was not correctly stated whether the suspect was part of the Kosovo Liberation Army.

In recent years, Serbia has repeatedly arrested citizens of Kosovo under allegations of war crimes in Kosovo in 1998-’99.
