Slovenian television will not broadcast this year’s Eurovision Song Contest and, during the semi-finals and finals, will offer viewers a special thematic program “Voices of Palestine”, which will be broadcast from May 10 to 20, reports Anadolu Agency.
Through films, documentaries, talk shows and analysis, the program will shed light on people’s personal stories, but also on the broader context of current events in the Middle East. The series brings different perspectives, from individual experiences to social and political issues, and opens space for reflection on one of the main topics of the modern world.
The program starts on Sunday, May 10 at 20:05 on TV SLO 1 with the documentary “Gas twins, come back to me”, which shows the consequences of war and the strength of family ties through the story of a family. This will be followed by a special edition of the program “Debate with Bergant”.

With this program cycle, RTV Slovenia continues to fulfill its public mission, providing viewers with content that encourages understanding, dialogue and critical reflection on contemporary global issues, they stated.
Although the decision has not been officially announced, it is clear from the program schedule that Slovenian Television will not broadcast this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, given that the semi-finals and finals are packed. with content dedicated to Palestine.
According to available information, this decision comes after the public service was previously withdrawn from the contest due to Israel’s participation.
Although the official statement from Television Slovenia did not clearly state that the Eurovision Song Festival would not be broadcast, such a conclusion can be clearly drawn from the published program schedule. The times in which the semi-finals and finals of this music contest are traditionally broadcast are filled with content from the “Voices of Palestine” cycle, which practically excludes the possibility of broadcasting the Eurovision Song Contest.
The European Broadcasting Union (EBU), which organizes the event, announced in early December last year that Israel would be able to participate in next year’s contest, noting that members his decided not to specifically vote for Israel’s participation despite requests from several broadcasters.
Slovenia decided not to participate in Eurovision in September 2025, and the EBU’s decision was met with displeasure in other countries as well. At least four other countries (public broadcasters) have decided not to participate, namely Spain, Ireland, the Netherlands and Iceland.
The countries cited Israel’s participation and the situation in Gaza, where more than 70,000 Palestinians have been killed in more than two years of war and the enclave has been razed to the ground.
Swiss Eurovision winner Nemo Mettler announced that the Eurovision 2024 trophy will to return to the EBU, saying that Israel’s continued involvement in the competition was contrary to its stated values. /tesheshi.com/
