Clash in Zvrnec, Greece protests calling Zvrnec Greek property

The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs has reacted with regret to the situation recorded in Zvrnec where there was a physical clash with protesters and employees of a private security company contracted by the company that is carrying out works in the area.

In the official announcement, the MEPJ emphasizes that the employee who used violence against a protester with Albanian and Greek citizenship has been arrested, while two of them have been criminally prosecuted others.

“At the same time, a disciplinary investigation has been started to verify the circumstances of the event and the relevant institutional responsibilities. The protection and promotion of human rights remain fundamental values of democracy and the rule of law in Albania.

Regarding this matter, the authorities of both countries, Albania and Greece, have been in constant contact, at different levels. Albania remains fully committed to the further strengthening of relations with Greece, based on mutual respect, open dialogue and common European values”, announces the Ministry.

Regarding the clashes in Zvërnec, Prime Minister Edi Rama also spoke earlier. Thanking the Police for the quick response, he announced that tomorrow morning he will speak about an extraordinary project, for which he underlined that many untruths have been alluded to.
