Exchanges of messages between Iran and the US through the mediation of Pakistan still continue, as efforts to reach a framework agreement continue, although some disagreements still remain unresolved, reports Anadolu.

According to the semi-official Iranian news agency ISNA, Pakistani Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, who traveled to Tehran for the second time this week, delivered a message to Iranian officials from the side. The report said Naqvi held meetings with several Iranian officials, including President Masoud Pezeshkian, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni. ISNA also reported that Naqvi will remain in Tehran today to continue consultations and hold additional meetings with Iranian officials. According to an Iranian proposal of 14 points, previously reported by Anadolu, Tehran wants separate negotiations on the nuclear program, including enriched uranium issues, within 30 days of reaching a permanent ceasefire.

However, Washington wants the nuclear program issue to be “discussed and resolved” before any agreement on a permanent ceasefire.

Regional tensions have escalated since the US and Israel launched attacks against Iran in February. Tehran retaliated with attacks on Israel as well as US allies in the Persian Gulf, including closing the Strait of Hormuz.

A ceasefire came into effect on April 8 brokered by Pakistan, but talks in Islamabad failed to secure a lasting deal.

US President Donald Trump later extended the ceasefire indefinitely while maintaining a blockade on ships traveling to or from the ports. Iranian through this strategic waterway.
