The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, has declared that the next elections in the country will be held in the period from the end of September to the middle of November, emphasizing the readiness for political dialogue despite the “rejection by a part of the opposition”, reports Anadolu.
Vučić told Radio Television of Serbia that he will continue to invite political opponents to talks and stressed that he respects all participants in political life. He added that he will accept the results of the elections if his list loses, but emphasized that he will continue to commit to dialogue and for “a united Serbia without a single opinion”.
Speaking of his political goals, Vučić said that his priority is the further development and modernization of the country, with a clear majority that will implement its program.
The Serbian president also said that his country will strongly support the Serbian List in the upcoming elections in Kosovo. on June 7, estimating that “the conditions for the Serbs will be difficult”. He accused the authorities in Pristina of putting pressure on the Serbian community and reiterated that the formation of the Association of Municipalities with a Serbian Majority is a key issue for Belgrade.
Referring to security issues, Vucic warned of a war against corruption in the police and said that all those who have participated in criminal activities will be sanctioned. He added that the state is preparing tougher legal measures to prevent abuses.
Speaking of the economy, the Serbian president said that intensive negotiations are underway regarding the energy sector, including possible ownership changes in the Serbian Oil Industry, and expressed confidence that a solution will be found despite the challenges.
Vučić also announced a package of measures for pensioners, including lowering drug costs as well as new investment agreements expected to be signed during his next visit to China.
In the end, he emphasized that Serbia will continue to balance international relations and work to maintain stability and economic growth in the coming period.
