Israeli artillery shelled an area of the village of Daraa in southern Syria early Friday, according to Syria’s state-run SANA news agency, Anadolu reports.
SANA said the shelling hit farmland and forest areas between the villages of Maariya and Abdin in the Yarmouk Basin on the western outskirts of the area.
No casualties or significant material damage were reported.
Israeli operations in Syria southern have intensified in recent months, with almost daily reports of raids, house searches, installation of checkpoints and arrests of civilians, including children and shepherds.
After the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime in December 2024, Israel declared the collapse of the 1974 Liberation Agreement and moved to occupy the buffer zone along the border.
Although the new Syrian administration did not issued threats against Israel, Israeli forces have carried out airstrikes in Syria since the ouster of Assad, killing civilians and targeting military sites, equipment and ammunition.
