On the 27th anniversary of the Meja massacre, the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, paid tribute and placed flowers at the cemeteries of the 376 civilians killed in Meja. Also, the prime minister paid tribute to the memorial plaques of those who fell in Korenica.
Remembering April 27, 1999, Prime Minister Kurti said that the massacre of Meja and Korenica is the biggest in the last war and is evidence of the genocide of Serbia in Kosovo.
“On April 27, 27 years have passed since this massacre and we make sure that we never forget and always remember the blood shed for the freedom of the nation’s martyrs and martyrs. But at the same time, we are committed to the maximum that the justice and security institutions bring to court and punish those who were the order givers and executors”, said Prime Minister Kurti, adding that in particular we are committed to clarifying the fate of the missing, who have disappeared by force, which are a total of 1,565.
From Meja, he called on international factors to do put pressure on the official Belgrade, stressing that there is also the responsibility, but also the information about the truth of the Albanians disappeared by violence.
“The massacre of Meja is evidence of the genocide of Serbia in Kosovo, which aimed at the extermination of the Albanian people. On April 27, it has been 27 years since this massacre and we take care to never forget and always remember the blood shed for the freedom of the nation’s martyrs and martyrs. But, at the same time, we are committed to the maximum that the justice and security institutions bring to trial and punish those who were the orderers and executors. It has been possible for several years to be tried in absentia, and the number of Serbian criminals who are being punished in absentia has already increased,” Kurti said.
