Schools and buses will not operate in northern Israel due to Hezbollah attacks

Schools and bus services in northern Israel will be suspended from Tuesday due to Hezbollah rockets from Lebanon, reports Anadolu.

Public broadcaster KAN said the move was taken by the heads of local Israeli settlement councils “as a necessary measure to protect students amid a deteriorating security situation.” It remains unclear how long the decision will remain in place.

A 10-day ceasefire was declared between Lebanon and Israel on April 17, although it has been repeatedly violated by Tel Aviv. On Thursday, US President Donald Trump said Lebanon and Israel agreed to extend the ceasefire by three weeks.

Hezbollah has carried out a series of drone attacks targeting Israeli soldiers in southern Lebanon and northern Israel, citing repeated ceasefire violations by Israel.

More than 2,500 people have been killed and over 1.6 million displaced by Israeli attacks in all of Lebanon as of March 2, official Lebanese figures show.
