The heads of Kosovo’s institutions have paid homage to the memorial of policemen who fell in the line of duty, on the Memorial Day of Fallen Policemen, honoring the 24 police officials who lost their lives while on duty.
The Prime Minister in office, Albin Kurti, also participated in the tribute, who said that today coincides with the 15th anniversary of the murder of the policeman Enver Zymeri.
“Today coincides with The 15th anniversary of the murder of Enver Zymer, who was enforcing the law of the Republic, was protecting territorial integrity, guaranteeing security and peace for everyone without distinction”, stated Kurti.
He said that Zymer was killed by, as he put it, “the criminal hand of the structures of Serbia”, calling him a hero of Kosovo.
“The criminal hand of the structures of Serbia shot him to death and since then he is remembered as a hero of Kosovo, of our citizenship and independence”, said Kurti.
The acting Prime Minister also spoke about the challenges that the Kosovo Police has faced over the years, mentioning the collective resignation of about 550 members of the Serbian community from the Kosovo Police in 2022.
“The Republic of Kosovo is safer than ever before, because the police is also stronger than ever before”, he declared. Kurti.
According to him, during the last years about 200 members of the Serbian community have been included in the Kosovo Police.
